I had never been to Hawks Nest on the central coast of NSW, a few hours from Sydney and you are in another world. John had just recently bought a 4WD so we wanted to give it a test run with some driving on the beach.
Up at Hawks Nest their is a beach Bennett’s Beach you can drive on all the way up towards Seal Rocks. We also went and explored the local surroundings in the Myall Lakes National Park.
Had lunch at Tea Gardens and saw some dolphin’s swimming in the lakes, that was really cool, a nice little town to visit right on the Myall Lakes.
We stayed right near the beach, at Ocean Side which is on Jimmy’s Beach, we could even see the beach from our balcony. Accommodation was basic but all you needed for a few nights away. The restaurant downstairs The Benchmark on Booner was amazing, with really friendly staff.
Exploring the Myall Lakes National Park was fantastic so many great little camping sites you can stay at. You do need to book with the National Parks and Wildlife to secure your spot, but it’s cheap and nothing like getting back to Nature, right?
We even spotted some Dolphin’s swimming in the surf.
Nothing like going for a drive along the beach. We drove through the National Park to get to the 4WD beach access track, make sure you put your pressure in your tyres down before driving on this beach as the sand is so soft.
When sunset arrived their was no better place than the beach, the views were amazing. So quite and relaxing. We even discovered that their was an island called John Gould. We didn’t know John had his own island.
I would highly recommend a weekend away to visit Hawk’s Nest if you haven’t been, it’s worth checking out, and a great place to explore.
